What this site collects

This site uses optional analytics cookies to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive. Nothing is set until you consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time from the footer of any page. The full list of cookies, what each one does and how long it lasts is on the cookie policy page.

Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation, so no complete IP address is stored. We do not build individual profiles and we do not sell data.

Typographic fonts are served from our own server, so browsing this site sends no request to Google Fonts or any other third-party host.

If you write to us

If you email hola@whalewatchingintenerife.com, we process the data you include in order to answer you. The legal basis is your consent, and we keep the correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your query and for any legal limitation period that applies.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser) for security and diagnostics. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and available (art. 6.1.f GDPR). These logs are not used to profile visitors.

Who else receives data

Google Ireland Limited acts as a data processor for the analytics service, under Google's own terms. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it relies on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, on Standard Contractual Clauses.

Booking links lead to whalewatchtenerife.org, a separate website with its own privacy policy. Once you follow that link, that policy governs what happens with your data.

How long data is kept

  • Cookie choice: six months, then you are asked again.
  • Analytics data: the retention period configured in the analytics property, up to a maximum of fourteen months.
  • Email correspondence: as long as needed to answer, plus any applicable limitation period.
  • Server logs: as per the hosting provider's standard retention.

Your rights

You may exercise, free of charge, the following rights at any time:

  • Access — confirmation of whether we process data about you.
  • Rectification — correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — deletion when the data is no longer necessary.
  • Restriction — limiting how the data is used.
  • Objection — opposing processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Portability — receiving your data in a structured format.
  • Withdrawal of consent — at any moment, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

Write to hola@whalewatchingintenerife.com or to Calle Mencey Tegueste, nº 25, Bloque 1, Puerta 5, La Concha, San Miguel de Abona, 38639, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, stating the right you wish to exercise and attaching a copy of a valid identity document. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).

Minors

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under fourteen. If you believe a minor has provided personal data, contact us and it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published here with a new date at the top. Where the change affects the categories of cookies used, the consent banner will appear again so you can review your choice.
